Former President of Bogotá’s city Council, Hipólito Moreno Gutiérrez has been granted house arrest in substitution of a detention order in a prison center by 62° Criminal Municipal Court of Bogotá, acting as Supervising Court, based on a request made by his group of defense lawyers to confirm that he has a serious health condition.
In close hearing, the legality of the provided documents has been verified by the Prosecutor’s Office delegated before the Supreme Court and the judge, which proves the seriousness of the two diseases that do not allow Moreno to be detained in a prison.
Last May 21, the former city council submitted to a plea bargain on charges of improper interest in the execution of contracts and bribery within the “contracts carousel” scandal in Bogota
