Cristian Alexis Vega Rivera has been sentenced to 8 years and two months in prison by the 42° Criminal Court of the Circuit of Bogotá, as responsible person for involuntary manslaughter.
The facts took place in November 2012 in a public establishment in Usaquén area, North of Bogota, when Vega Rivera defended the performance of his professional soccer club, showing off the colors of his team shirt.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, as the discussions became increasingly heated, the owner’s son of the premises came out in defense of his father trying to beat Vega, who pulled out his knife to confront the alleged aggressor and accidentally wounded the victim’s mother, causing her death.
The sentence includes ineligibility to hold a civil service post equivalent to the prison term.
