John Alejandro Gómez Herrera has been captured by the Technical Investigative Team (CTI) of the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia, in coordination with the National Police. Gomez Herrera was charged with violent sexual acts with more than eight women, among them some minors.

The investigation which was conducted during more than 6 months, allowed finding the alleged serial rapist on a public space located on 38th and 32th Street – Southern Bogota, exactly in Carvajal district, when the accused was driving a van in which apparently he every time boarded their victims.

It was indicated that Gomez Herrera, after deceiving young girls, he threatened them with a gun to force the victims to get in to the automotive and then took them to an isolated area via to Mondoñedo, South of Bogota, where he sexually abused them.

On other occasions, the defendant pretended to be as a headhunter and a known television station worker. He photographed them naked and blackmailed the girls to avoid police reports.

A supervising Judge accepted the approach made by the Prosecutor’s Office during arraignment and issued a measured to ensure the defendants appearance at trial.
