A Prosecutor of the National Unit of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law issued an order to hold four army officers in pre-trial detention for killing a protected person.

Colonel Antonio José Ussa Cabrera and the Major Francisco Yecid Villamil Mora, members of the national army, were affected with the decision as alleged co-conspirators of the murder of a protected person, conspiracy to commit crimes, forced disappearance, attempt homicide and procedural fraud.

By the date of the incident, a similar order was issued against sergeants Celedonio Berdugo Murillo and Oscar Godoy Orozco as alleged co-conspirators of the murder of a protected person, conspiracy to commit crime and attempted murder.

The facts have to do with a so-called armed combat which was occurred on November 28 / 2002 between Gaula units of the Army and alleged guerrillas on the road Macanillo – Las Palmas de Socorro, Santander. Daniel Muñoz Cristancho and Marco Antonio Castellanos died and Mauricio Marín was injured in the said combat.
