Jaime Aguilar Ramirez, alias Dionisio Rayo, the Farc’s 53rd front leader who would have attempted to assassinate former President Álvaro Uribe during his presidential inauguration in 2002  was arrested by the authorities on march 22, 2013,  in the Department of Meta . Aguilar is brother of extradited alias Cesar, who was the rebel jailer of Ingrid Betancourt and others.

The arrest was carried out by Dijin Judicial Police  when Aguilar Ramirez was moving on San Martín road, way that leads to Villavicencio. At that time, alias Dionisio Rayo was driving a luxurious grey Hummer after, apparently, having attended a meeting of the commanders of  Urías Rondón Front  in El Castillo (Meta). He planned to go to Villavicencio and then to Bogota in order to receive a medical  treatment.

The detainee became a member of  FARC,  27 years ago. In the cities of Bogotá and Villavicencio, Prosecutors  from Specialized  Units Against Terrorism  issued  four arrest warrants  for his alleged participation in the crimes of aggravated homicide, conspiracy to commit a crime, rebellion, terrorism, drug trafficking and murder of protected person.

He participated in the terrorist action of August 7, 2002 in Bogotá, when Presidential Palace was attacked  with mortars launched  from “El Cartucho”,  area located in the center of  Bogotá city . In an attempt to assassinate President Álvaro Uribe, several people died.

There is also a detention order against due to a terrorist attack committed in 2005 against a hotel in Puerto Toledo (Meta).

Jaime Aguilar Ramirez is brother of Gerardo  Aguilar, alias “Cesar”, who was arrested  on July 2, 2008 during operation “Jaque”, when they released the presidential former candidate  Íngrid Betancourt, eleven police and army members  and three United States contractors.
