The District–Capital ex-contractor, Julio Gomez would be ten years in a prison facility under a plea agreement signed by the Office of the Attorney-General and the defense of the accused.
The other central axis revolving around this agreement, as well as the Gomez arrival to the prison, is a commitment to supply information allowing to clarify the irregularities in the process of public procurement in Bogota during several administrations, said the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Jorge Fernando Perdomo.
Gomez, in the framework of the signed document, last March 8, “he agrees to cooperate with the Office of the Attorney General to supply significant information that will help to clarify what it has been known as the ‘contracting carousel’. Information in the proceedings which are carrying out against the Nule gentlemen, some officials who took part in several administrations and some District Councilors during a few periods” said Mr. Perdomo.
In the agreement, the offenses of undue interest in signing of contracts, bribery and embezzlement as participant will be bound. Regarding conspiracy to commit a crime, the Office of the Attorney General will request to approve a principle of opportunity that benefits Gomez.
“Facing the economic issue of the pre-agreement, it will be subject to the Presiding Judge decision in the motion of comprehensive reparation that is conducted at the end of the proceedings. The victim has to consent this issue and in this case, the victim is the Institute of Urban Development (IDU), which has also been agreed with the implementation of the agreement.
