The Unit of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law brought charges against Miguel Angel Nule Amin, as alleged mastermind for the offenses of aggravated homicide with the help of forced displacement.
The facts by which Nule Amin was accused are related to the incursion of 160 gunmen to the rural settlements Floral, Verruguitas, La Cañada, Limon and El Pavo, among others, between 14 and 17 October 2000, in the village of Macayepo, Bolivar, causing terror and displacement of the inhabitants who were accused to be guerrilla collaborators.
During those three days, members of the AUC burst into dwellings where they selected some peasants who were killed by using blunt and sharp objects. The attackers wore military clothing and carried long-range weapons, circumstance which, in turn, allowed them to intimidate the population, steal and set fire to their properties.
To bring charges formally, the Prosecutor’s Office in charge of the case ordered to revoke probation, as well as to return the bond, and sent official communication to INPEC (Colombia’s National Institute of Prisons) and to La Ternera Jail in Cartagena, in order to inform about the authorization granted to Mr. Miguel Angel Nule Amín for therapies outside the prison, according to his request.
