At the request of the 23° specialized Prosecutor, a Circuit Criminal Judge in Bogotá ordered, in second instance, to imprison Liliana Marcela Castillo Borja, who was charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Castillo Borja had accepted counts of the aggravated kidnapping of a 17 months baby girl, who was born in Meissen Hospital, on January 9. The kidnapper fled with the child from a coffee shop located in front of the medical center after deceiving her mother and she lasted almost four days fleeing from the authorities.

The judge revoked the decision of the 31st Criminal Municipal Judge issued on January 6 in Bogota, who was supervising the trial and who considered, at that time, that this woman was not a danger to the community and she was released after she accepted charges.

On that occasion, the judge refrained from imposing a preventive detention order against her, considering that she did not act for a ransom, nor sought to enslave, only she wanted to replace the loss of her child during pregnancy, circumstances which could cause emotional problems.

However, the second instance considered that Castillo Borja is a danger to the community and supported the request of the Prosecutor in the case, who argued that the Defense could not prove a psychological affectation of the defendant at the time of the facts.

After the decision, the young, 23, was immediately sent to El Buen Pastor Prison in Bogota.
