The accountant of the municipality of Codazzi (Cesar) and two more people were remanded in custody for defrauding the finances of this town. A third individual has been placed on house arrest.
The Second Criminal Municipal Court in Valledupar city (Cesar), acting as a Supervisory Court, determined that Sidalgo Enrique Charris Pertuz, accountant of the municipality of Codazzi, Danise Elena Benjumea Padilla, Deisy Janeth Agudelo Cocuy and Robert Becerra Clavijo, were remanded into custody for his alleged responsibility for embezzlement, falseness in a public document and conspiracy to commit an offence against the public administration.
According to the investigation, Charris Pertuz created an alternative payroll to that reported monthly by the municipal administration, in which the salary was increased and included three people, among them, his wife and a sister-in-law, who for two years received wages without any employment relationship with the Mayor of Codazzi.
The Prosecutor’s Office could establish that the embezzlement is more than Cop. 220 million paid in the period 2010-2012, when administration personnel noticed irregularities committed by the official and filed the relevant complaint.
The defendants did not accept the charges, so the judge decided, in the case of Danise Benjumea Padilla, to place her house arrest and remand to the custody to the Municipal Jail in Valledupar the other defendants.
