The National Unit against Disappearance and Forced Displacement of the Colombia’s Attorney General Office opened a criminal investigation into the death of Bogotá’s Metropolitan Police patrolman, Jairo Alberto Diaz Vergara, who had disappeared nine days ago.
The Vergara’s corpse was found about 5:30 pm, Monday, February 4, near a ravine located in Carrera 3° and 162th street, Villa Nidia neighborhood, Usaquén locality, North of Bogotá.
The delegate Prosecutor in the case will consider the evidentiary material items, among them, the necropsy report from the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences and the six wounds in the corpse, apparently, as a result of a beating with blunt items such as rocks on the place where the body was found.
Also, clothing, jewelry and weapons will be analyzed, after nine days of exposure to the environment, during the period of time in which the policeman’s corpse was lost.
The Prosecutor’s Office ordered to interview the uniformed who were on duty the day of the facts and will conduct statements to the inhabitants of the area as well.
