During a hearing to bring charges with a view to plea bargain, the defendant Carlos Fernando Mateus Morales, former leader of the AUC-Andaquies South front, has accepted to be accessory before a Prosecutor for Human Rights and IHL for the offences of murder and torture on a protected person, and aggravated kidnapping.

The procedure is related to the facts happened on June 17, 2003, when members of Special Urban Forces, Afeur No.12, killed  the civilians Jair Cuadrado Orozco and Erminsul Orejuela in Alto and Bajo Caldas rural settlement, jurisdiction of Florencia city. This individuals were presented as downed in combat.

According to the investigation, Cuadrado Orozco and Orejuela were kidnapped respectively, on April 16 and June 6, 2003 by men under the command of Morales Mateus, who is in La Picota prison in Bogotá.

The retired officer Juan Carlos Rodríguez Agudelo, in charge of the Afeur No.12, is also linked to this prosecution, at the time of the facts.
