Former leader of Casanare Peasant Self-defense Forces, Héctor Germán Buitrago Parada, has appeared in a press charges procedure in order to Plea Bargain for massacre of Mapiripán (Meta).
Buitrago Parada, alias Martín Llanos, has admitted his responsibility for “aggravated homicide in homogeneous and heterogeneous competition, aggravated kidnapping and terrorism”, before a Prosecutor of Human Rights and IHL, as an accessory.
The Mapiripán massacre was perpetrated between 15 and 20 of July 1997, when members of a self-defense group shot no less than ten people death, among other illegal actions.
This prosecution against Buitrago Parada, imprisoned in La Picota Prison in Bogotá, will be transferred to a special judge in Villavicencio to impose a sentence.
