As responsible of aggravated homicide, aggravated criminal association, aggravated kidnapping for ransom and forced disappearance, the defendant, Luis Alexander Beltrán Rivera, one of the ringleader of the block “Héroes Gualivá ” of the AUC self-defenses, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison and a fine of 15,000 statutory minimum salaries monthly.
The decision was taken by Second Special Circuit Criminal Court, attached to Cundinamarca’s Easing of Cases Congestion, which was based on the evidential material submitted by a Prosecutor assigned to the National Unit of Human Rights and IHL. Beltrán Rivera, alias Arturo, was sentenced as an accomplice by way of willful misconduct.
According to the investigation, between April and May 2003, block “Gualivá Heroes” / AUC self-defenses combatants, kidnapped the following people in “La Vereda de Sasaima” country house in Cundinamarca Department : Luis Alberto Casasbuenas, Luz Dary Perilla Gonzalez, William José Bernal Pava, Ruth Cecilia Arias, Édgar Quintero González and two minors, who subsequently were transferred to the ICBF Colombian Family Welfare Institute.
To date, it has only been found Quintero González´s mortal remains and the whereabouts of the other victims are unknown by the authorities.
Juan José Meneses Peña and Durance Murillo Bohórquez were sentenced to 30 years in prison while Ever Vera Moya was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the same facts.
