By accepting a petition submitted by The Attorney General Office, the third Municipal Penal Judge in Cali, acting as Supervisory Judge, pronounced a remand in custody against 11 alledge members of the gang “La Ocho”, after a year of investigation.

The defendants, in accordance with the Attorney General Office, formed part of a group devoted to committed several illegal actions such as homicide and drug trafficking. The gang committed crimes in Valle del Cauca and Cauca departments whose operation base was located in El Rodeo neighborhood in Cali. The arrest of the current defendants were made by Sijin agents, last weekend.

During the preliminary hearings, the Attorney General Office brought charges for criminal association aimed to drug trafficking against to Javier Londoño Vallejo and Sair Apozá Chará, who were agreed to accepted their responsability in such crime.

Likewise, Jaime Olaya Cordobés, Carlos Alberto Raigoza Muñoz, Gustavo Adolfo Perafán Tonubalá, John Freinner Carmona Vélez, Brian Steven Paz Delgado, Smith Bastidas Campo, Óscar Steven Alcalde Hurtado, Cristian Andrés Valencia Londoño and Rodrigo Ponce Carvajal were accused for criminal association aimed to drug trafficking, homicide, attempted homicide, drug trafficking, forgery in private document and, manufacture,  dealing and posession of self-defense firearms.

Based on an order of a Supervisory Judge, the 11 defendants were transfered to Villahermosa prison in Cali city.
