The defendant Hernán Cesario Ceballos González, Lieutenant of the National Army, will serve 30 years in prison, according to the decision taken by Second Circuit Criminal Court in Bello (Antioquia).

Before the above-mentioned authority, the Prosecutor’s Office, through testimonial, documentary and expert evidences, has proved the Ceballos González’s responsibility for murder of the peasant, Weimar de Jesus Atehortúa García.

The victim was presented as a subversive killed by troops of the Pedro Nel Ospina battalion in combat. This fact happened on December 29, 2004 in the La Chiva village, municipality of Bello (Antioquia Department).

The judge found guilty Ceballos González for the offense of murder in protected person and also sentenced to four years in prison to Guillermo Cordoba Urrutia, non-commissioned officer, and Victor Barrientos Mazo, particularly, for the offense of concealment by facilitating.
