A prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Bolívar (Seccional Bolivar) prosecuted Hilier José Altamiranda Carreazo, an alleged member of Clan del Golfo. The 23‑year‑old man is allegedly involved in a murder committed in Cartagena due to territorial control for drug trafficking.
It is believed that this individual, known within the criminal organization as Mai, served as hitman. According to the evidence, Altamiranda was responsible for the death of a 45‑year‑old man which took place on July 8, 2022, in La Candelaria neighborhood. The victim was shot from a motorcycle, and two other people were injured during the attack.
Altamiranda Carreazo was arrested by the National Police in La Esperanza neighborhood in La Heroica on January 23 in compliance with a judicial order.
The Office of the Attorney General charged the defendant with criminal conspiracy, aggravated homicide, attempted homicide, and manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
According to the judicial decision, the defendant will remain in prison.
