At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Rigoberto Emilio Segura Osorio and Juan Erwin Vera Angarita, who are allegedly involved in the transport of narcotics in Norte de Santander.

In this regard, a prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Pamplona charged them with trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics. They did not plead guilty to the charges.

Both men were arrested in fragante delicto by the National Police on a road that leads from Chitaga to Pamplona (Norte de Santander). According to the investigation, the defendants who were traveling in a van allegedly asked for a tow truck to be repaired.

During the trip, they were requested by the National Police to stop for inspection in a checkpoint. The tow truck driver stopped, but the people who were traveling in the other vehicle tried to flee, but they were detained a few meters ahead.

When inspecting the van, the authorities found 949 rectangular packages and two sacks containing 38 bags with a vegetable substance inside. After carrying out preliminary tests, it was determined that it was marijuana and weighted 527.3 kilos.
