At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge issued a prison sentence for Edgar Alfonso Ortiz Arias, Claudia Patricia Pérez Rodríguez and Jhonatan Alexander Gutiérrez Salazar; alleged perpetrators of violent robberies committed against several citizens in Villavicencio (Meta). For these same facts, three adolescents were sent to a Juvenile detention center.

The adults were arrested by the National Police during two home searches carried out in Villavicencio. The Office of the Attorney General charged them with qualified and aggravated theft, and use of minors in the commission of crimes. They did not plead guilty to the charges.

The investigation, coordinated by a prosecutor from the Estructura de Apoyo EDA in Villavicencio, allowed the identification and location of three adults, and location of the three minors. These people were allegedly engaged in illegal activities between December 2023 and June 2024.

These facts took place in the Villa Humberto, Comuneros and Alborada neighborhoods where the alleged members of the criminal group ‘Los Betos’, using firearms and sharp objects, carried out 18 robberies from merchants, pedestrians and residents of the sector.
