A prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Huila prosecuted Yerson Chiripua Tovar, 25, as the alleged perpetrator of manufacturing, trafficking and possession of firearms, ammunition for restricted use, for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces or explosives.

The decision was adopted after alias Mechas was arrested by officers belonging to the Special Operations Group (Grupo de Operaciones Especiales GOES in spanish), the Police and the National Army. The arrest took place on November 3 in a commercial establishment in the municipality of La Argentina.

During the operation, ammunition of different calibers, cash, a pixelated military cap and a bracelet alluding to the extinct Farc were seized from the defendant.

Chiripua Tovar denied his responsibility for the crimes. The evidence provided by the prosecutor allowed a judge to impose a prison sentence at the so-called La Plata prison in Huila.
