Three men and a woman who were allegedly part of a criminal group involved in receiving stolen cell phones in Bucaramanga were prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office
According to the investigation, the network’s modus operandi consisted in receiving mobile devices, unlocking them and changing their IMEI, so these could be sold as high-end used cell phones that were offered on social networks.
It was also revealed that they used minors to commit crimes and divert authorities’ attention.
In two search warrants that were carried out in a residential area of the so-called Alarcón neighborhood in Bucaramanga, 640 cell phones were found. In addition, Gonzalo Serrano Pinto, Alexander Montes Montes, José Armando Peña Peña and Angie Vanesa Castro Rojas were arrested.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged them with receiving stolen property and using minors in the commission of crimes. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
A judge imposed a prison sentence against three men; and house arrest against a woman.
