Apparently, the drug trafficking network was hiding the drugs in groceries at different shopping stands located on public roads.

Thanks to a joint work between the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police, it was possible to dismantle the criminal structure ‘Los Cacaos’, involved in drug trafficking in a marketplace in Cali (Valle del Cauca).

Twelve alleged members of the illegal group were arrested by virtue of a court order on April 19. These actions were carried out in the development of home searches procedures ordered by a specialized prosecutor from the so-called Estructura de Apoyo (EDA) (Support Structure) of the Sectional Office in Cali.

People that were involved are Ingrid Cipagauta, Yuri Chara Alcalá, Stella Andrade, Ludivia Prada, Hermilson Mosquera, Jimmy Granada, Jhonny Requene, Briggite Lozada, Ricardo Molina, Juan Villamil, Luis Gutiérrez and Angie Dachiardi.

The Prosecutor’s Office showed that ‘Los Cacaos’ was hiding the drugs in groceries at different shopping stands as common food.

According to information in the possession of the Office of the Attorney General, the organization commercialized an average of 75,000 doses of narcotics per week. This allegedly generated a criminal income close to 50 million COP per month.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged them with conspiracy to commit aggravated crimes and trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics. They did not plead guilty to the charges. The judge sentenced the 12 defendants to prison.

The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.
