At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, a judge sent José Aquileo Acevedo to prison since he was allegedly responsible for the death of Fernando Monsalve Romero which occurred on January 24, 2021, on the road that led from Zapatoca to Girón (Santander).
The Prosecutor’s Office charged him with aggravated homicide, aggravated theft, receiving stolen property (aggravated), illegal possession of firearms and simple kidnapping. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
According to the investigation, the defendant and other men intercepted the victim’s truck, threatening its occupants with firearms to flee with the vehicle that was loaded with coffee.
In the robbery, Monsalve Romero was wounded in the head, while the people who accompanied him were tied up and intimidated.
The other four men, who were caught in flagrante when scaping were sentenced to 24 years in prison.
