The Office of the Attorney General achieved a prison sentence against Duván Andrés Henao Montoya, 22, as the alleged perpetrator of the aggravated homicide and illegal possession of firearms for personal defense

According to the investigation carried out by a prosecutor from the so-called Unidad de Vida in the Sectional Office in Antioquia,  the defendant would be responsible for the murder of Álvaro Bailarín Sapia, indigenous governor of the Valle de Pérdidas reservation, located in the municipality of Urrao.

The victim was shot in the the so-called 20 de Julio neighborhood of the aforementioned area, on October 14, 2022, when he was trying to protect one of his children from the attack committed by the defendant. Dancer Sapia was shot and was transferred to a hospital in Santafé de Antioquia, where he died due to the seriousness of his injuries.

Henao Montoya was arrested on March 4 by National Police Officers and he did not plead guilty to the charges.
