At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, a judge issued a prison sentence against Melky Tamayo Tilano, alias Almir, alleged main leader of the organized armed group Structure 4 (E4) of FARC dissents’ Bloque Magdalena Medio for his alleged responsibility in the crime of aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime for the purpose of homicide and terrorist purposes.

According to the investigation, the defendant who apparently has a criminal record of more than 10 years in illegal armed groups, had the purpose of expanding the residual organization towards the south of Bolívar; as well as consolidating criminal income and presence in this region.

The arrest was carried out by court order on February 24 in neighborhood 11 de Abril in  La Gabarra, municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, where cell phones were also seized.

This operation, which had the support of members of the Technical Investigative Corps- CTI, Police and the National Army, was carried out within the framework of the Magdalena Medio project, in which the Sectional Directorate in Magdalena Medio and the Special Unit work together.
