The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, assured that, in almost three months of joint work between the CTI and the public force, the results against drug trafficking have tripled.
The Itinerant prosecutors in the areas with the greatest presence of drug trafficking networks, the differential strategies to block illicit crime corridors, and the coordination of capacities of the Prosecutor’s Office and the public force have been decisive axes to achieve important results against drug trafficking.
At the National Navy Base, in Turbo (Antioquia), the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado; and Rear Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón, commander of the Caribbean Naval Force, assessed the progress of the joint investigations and operations against drug trafficking and highlighted the achievements obtained in 2021.
“In 76 days of operations carried out in regional criminal corridors against the drug trafficking phenomenon in the country and in a coordinated work with the military forces and the National Police we have seized 50 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, 43 tons of marijuana and 66 kilograms of heroin”, stated the Attorney General.
The Delegate Office against Organized Crime and the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking have prosecuted 316 people for trafficking, manufacturing or possessing drugs. Likewise, they have dismantled eight drug trafficking networks and they have carried out 10 transnational operations in 10 different countries (Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Spain, Belize, United States, Costa Rica, Mexico, Belgium, France and Panama).
On the other hand, the Delegate Office on Public Safety and its 35 Sectional Offices have achieved, so far this year, 394 arrests and have impacted 55 criminal organizations with presence in 12 main cities.
“We have confiscated 31 laboratories. We are tripling the efforts concerning this phenomenon. We keep moving forward. We continue working with our CTI and our Navy in the rivers and oceans”, stated the Attorney General Barbosa Delgado.
In accordance with the parameters defined in the Strategic Direction 2020-2024 about attacking all links in the criminal chain, more than 27 tons of solid supplies and 86,000 gallons of liquid precursors have been seized.
“We are also implementing the‘ Argenta ’strategy through which we intend to be part of different operations and this way, we are going to confiscate assets owned by these criminals,” concluded the Attorney General during his visit in Turbo (Antioquia).
