The investigative actions ordered by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, in order to reveal the act of corruption and achieve the prosecution of those responsible, are advancing to guarantee transparency and legality in the duties performed by the institution´s officials.
Thanks to a joint work between the CTI of the Office of the Attorney General and the National Police, a prosecutor in Cali (Valle del Cauca) and a lawyer were arrested. They allegedly agreed with other judicial officers to slow down and avoid the progress of a criminal proceeding for homicide and kidnapping.
The prosecutor, apparently, received 100 million pesos from the person interested in slowing down an investigation against him.
The illegal acts took place between December 2019 and January 2020.
A prosecutor will bring the two detainees before a judge and will charge them with bribery in a criminal proceeding.
The Attorney General, in the company of the Deputy Attorney General, referred to these events in Cali: “This head-on fight against corruption, both outside the institution and within the institution, is a transversal axis of our action. We are not going to allow officials that work in the Attorney General’s Office to dishonor the institution”.
