Members of theTechnical Investigative Corps (Cuerpo Tecnico de Investigación CTI) of the Office of the Attorney General arrested in the last hours one of the alleged individuals implicated in the death of Ana María Castro Romero, in facts that took place last year on March 5th.
The arrested person will be brought before a supervisory judge as the alleged person responsible for the crime of aggravated femicide.
This action takes place in compliance with the 2020-2024 Strategic Direction, led by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, for whom, the prosecution of those responsible for acts that threaten the integrity of women is a priority.
The investigation
A prosecutor appointed to the so-called Unidad de Vida of the Sectional Office in Bogotá was able to establish that the day of the facts Ana María Castro (21 years old) left a commercial establishment located in the north area of the main city of the country (calle 116 con avenida 19) in the company of the arrested person and two other men.
Apparently, the four people drunk alcoholic beverages. After leaving the place, they took a car and went to Pontevedra neighborhood (Suba) to allegedly continue celebrating.
The victim was on rear seat of the car with one of the individuals who was asked to get out the car and they continued the route with the young woman.
Police investigations show that Ana María was beaten in the face and thrown out the car. The young woman was transferred to a Engativá Hospital, located in northwestern area of Bogotá, and then to the Simón Bolívar Hospital where she died as a result of a cranioencephalic trauma produced when she fell out of the car, according to the legal medical report.
The victim was registered in the assistance centers as NN, due to the lack of identification documents; some time after, her mother recognized her.
