At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, a detention measure with imprisonment was issued against Lina Marcela Pérez Álvarez by a supervisory judge in Medellín, for her alleged responsibility in the murder of Campo Elías Galindo, an activist of Colombia Humana.

The Office of the Attorney General charged her with aggravated murder and aggravated theft, for the facts that took place on September 28 in neighborhood Laureles in Medellín (Antioquia) at the victim’s apartment, where his corpse was found.

According to the investigations and first hypotheses, this would be a passion crime since the evidence collected showed the type of relationship that Campo Elías Galindo had with the alleged perpetrator, with whom he had frequent meetings.

Pérez Álvarez was arrested on November 10 in Medellín by members of  Dijín Elite Corps – Sijín Meval, in a joint effort with the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigación UEI) of the Office of the Attorney General.  During a search warrant proceeding at the defendants’ property, a computer and a cell phone that had been stolen from the victim were found.

These results are part of the investigation and prosecution strategy defined by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado against acts affecting human rights defenders.
