In response to the guideline defined by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, to prioritize the investigation into the murder of Juliana Giraldo in the rural area of Miranda (Cauca), the Delegate Director on Public Safety, Carmen Torres Malaver, and the expert in differential approach of the Office of the Attorney General, Mauricio Noguera Rojas, accompanied the inter-institutional working group that will allow to establish the lines of investigation.
Torres Malaver and Noguera Rojas met with the technical and expert team of the Office of the Attorney General to verify the development of the work carried out by the experts and add what is necessary for a proper development of the investigation.
“The purpose is to carry out an investigation with a differential approach, applying all the technical, investigative, criminalistic and forensic protocols necessary to clarify the facts,” said Delegate Director Torres Malaver.
The institution appointed an expert to start the differential approach in the framework of the investigation, specifically with a gender perspective due to the victim’s gender identity.
“The purpose is to determine if the victim´s gender identity is relevant in the occurrence of the facts or, independently of that, that Juliana´s identity be fully respected throughout the investigative process,” said Noguera Rojas.
The members of the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI), the Branch Offices in Cauca and Cali, and the National Police, carried out the preliminary investigations and aimed at establishing what happened.
