During the first Attorneys metting against corruption of Bogota, the Deputy Attorney General of the nation, Jorge Fernando Perdomo, spoke of progress that in the anti-corruption field has been the Attorney General of the nation, thanks to the hard work of the national unit of analysis and contexts (Unac) and the implementation of the new model of research, which aims to create contexts and attack crime.

Regarding to the controversial case of procurement Carousel, the Deputy Atoorney mentioned 40 processes that thanks to the joint efforts of the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Attorney Office and the Unit of Delegate Attorney´s before the Supreme Court have produced results in prosecution subject.

Perdomo referred to corruption as an endemic problem in the country, firmly embedded in the lives of Colombians and their institutions “Right now the biggest challenges to justice are corruption, a corrupt society harms each of us” and invited prosecutors to be managers of their research and to work jointly with the UNAC way to achieve such successful results that serve as a research and export model.

Similarly, the deputy Attorney noted that inside the cases priorization, besides the major issues affecting the fundamental rights, government corruption requires new ways of research, starting with Bogota and serving as a model for the whole country “With these 40 people processed we are only beginning, perhaps not even be ten percent. We have made progress but much still at national level “, and emphasized that the only way forward in results is to begin to investigate in a different way.

Thus began in the country headquarters Compensate Cajicá (Cundinamarca), the first Strategic Meeting on Fiscal Corruption, one more tool of the Attorney General’s Office to face the great challenges involved in the fight against corruption.
