The traditional research system represents for the Attorney General’s Office and the work of prosecutors in every corner of the country, a duplication of efforts in which nobody knows what is finally investigating beyond the case is assigned.

Thus the head of the National Contexts and Analysis Unit of the Attorney General’s Office, Alejandro Ramelli, presented at the Second Forum Analysis of Oral accusatory penal system, which is done in Paipa (Boyacá), the benefits of what is already known as the research context will expedite the process results against organizations operating in different regions of the country.

For example in the case of the peace community of San José de section, the national unit of human rights and international humanitarian law, in the traditional system, has at least 10 prosecutors doing research on different facts; others are investigated by specialized prosecutors of Medellin, some local prosecutors and other sectional. According to Alejandro Ramelli like everyone knows a fact in particular, then all and none know in reality what was what happened in the community of peace throughout its history.

In this situation, the context investigation model, based on three principles, is presented as the solution to the duplication of functions with regard to events that may well be related to each other, the first is the association of cases from criminal patterns, ie research can be associated from crime patterns, so get to investigate the criminal organization and not just the specific event that only seeks to establish who committed the crime, but that was all the organization was behind.

A second ingredient is the construction of contexts that allow to understand the structure and functioning of the Organization; that is allowing this type of research allows to identify directly the producing machine of the crime, namely the criminal network.

Front organizations such as the FARC, investigations in context, in this second principle, allow to investigate the full diagram of the Organization, its evolution and its policy. In the traditional system could reconstruct a face or a block, but not the entire criminal organization.

The third characteristic is that research in context possible interaction between classical criminal investigation and methodologies of the social sciences such as history, political science, anthropology and natural sciences. This means that in the classic research only involved the researcher, lawyer and judicial police, now with the intervention of the other sciences of knowledge, processes allow to understand the criminal phenomenon of why this happened or why in a given region crime has shot at certain times.
