A prosecutor appointed to\u00a0the branch office in Norte de Santander (Seccional\u00a0Norte de Santander) prosecuted five individuals allegedly responsible for the crimes of manufacturing, trafficking,\u00a0possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition;\u00a0aggravated\u00a0manufacturing, trafficking, and\u00a0possession\u00a0of firearms, ammunition restricted for exclusive use by the Armed Forces or\u00a0explosives; and receiving stolen goods.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The defendants Wilmer Ram\u00f3n L\u00f3pez Dur\u00e1n, Jos\u00e9 Armando Pedraza Caicedo, Rafael Enrique Mirabar Higardo, Alfredo Antonio R\u00edos Pirela, and Gustavo Rol\u00f3n Mendoza were arrested during a home search carried out in La Perla, in the municipality of Tib\u00fa, in a joint operation between the National Police and Army on February 20.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to investigations, the defendants allegedly belong to a\u00a0group\u00a0outside the law\u00a0operating\u00a0in this area of the department\u00a0that would be involved in\u00a0acquiring, storing, and illegally commercializing firearms.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities seized from the place three rifles, two 9 mm pistols, ammunition of different calibers, magazines, a cell phone, and a motorcycle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The investigation\u00a0established\u00a0that these individuals allegedly carried out tasks related to storing and concealing war material, as well as providing logistical supplies for the illegal structure.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a hearing (\u2018Audiencias\u00a0concentradas\u2019), a\u00a0judge\u00a0legalized the arrests,\u00a0approved the\u00a0charges\u00a0that were brought, and imposed preventive detention in a prison.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
