The Office of the Attorney General\u00a0prosecuted Jairo Andr\u00e9s Miranda Ram\u00edrez, Brayan Stiven Rol\u00f3n Borges, and Johan Hern\u00e1n Mart\u00ednez Romero, three\u00a0alleged\u00a0members of a criminal organization\u00a0known as\u00a0\u2018Los J,\u2019 who are allegedly involved in the planning and execution of the murder of\u00a0the observer\u00a0and human rights defender Fabio \u00c1lex Ortega Acero, which occurred on December 19, 2024, in C\u00facuta (Norte de Santander).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The victim, who was accompanied by his escorts, was approached and attacked with a firearm by two individuals. One of them was a minor who also died at the scene during the exchange of gunfire.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Evidence\u00a0indicates\u00a0that Miranda Ram\u00edrez, known as \u2018J,\u2019 was the leader of the illegal structure and allegedly ordered the crime\u00a0due to\u00a0the\u00a0role\u00a0carried out by the\u00a0defender.\u00a0Therefore, he is accused of ordering surveillance to\u00a0identify\u00a0the routines and security conditions of the human rights defender, a task allegedly carried out by Rol\u00f3n Borges, alias Drone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Johan Hern\u00e1n Mart\u00ednez Romero is under investigation for his\u00a0possible\u00a0role\u00a0in coordinating and gathering information about the victim\u2019s movements and protection scheme.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on the\u00a0information, a prosecutor from the Special Investigation\u00a0<\/span>(<\/span>Unidad Especial de Investigaci\u00f3n –<\/span>UEI) charged them, according to their potential individual responsibility, with aggravated homicide, criminal conspiracy, use of minors in the commission of crimes;\u00a0and manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The defendants did not\u00a0plead\u00a0guilty to\u00a0the charges and were\u00a0sent to prison.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
