Firearms, ammunition, and grenades were sent\u00a0in\u00a0hidden compartments\u00a0that were\u00a0fitted into private vehicles or dispatched as parcels to armed structures\u00a0operating\u00a0in the southwest, central, and eastern regions of the country.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Office of the Attorney General, in coordination with\u00a0Dijin- National\u00a0Police\u00a0dismantled a network accused of obtaining, transporting, and selling firearms and other items for FARC dissidents.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The investigations\u00a0revealed\u00a0that there were\u00a0nine individuals allegedly responsible for\u00a0<\/span>devising various camouflage methods in private vehicles to conceal firearms, ammunition, and grenades, and for coordinating shipments to armed groups\u00a0that\u00a0operate\u00a0in Valle del Cauca, Meta, Cauca, Arauca, Guaviare, Nari\u00f1o, and Norte de Santander.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On other occasion, the items were reportedly sent as parcels through legally established transport companies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These illicit methods were detected in seven seizures carried out over the past two years in different\u00a0areas of the country.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The alleged members of the illegal organization were\u00a0arrested\u00a0and prosecuted. A prosecutor\u00a0appointed to the branch office in\u00a0Cali\u00a0(Seccional\u00a0Cali)\u00a0charged them with aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime; manufacturing, trafficking, and possession of firearms, ammunition for\u00a0restricted\u00a0use,\u00a0for\u00a0the exclusive use of\u00a0the Armed Forces, or explosives; and trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two of the defendants\u00a0pleaded guilty to\u00a0the charges.\u00a0According to a judicial decision, eight of the\u00a0defendants\u00a0must\u00a0serve\u00a0a prison sentence.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The decision involves: Hugo Arturo Lesmes Roa, Germ\u00e1n Tolosa Ayala, Omar Humberto Roa Pinz\u00f3n, Carlos Humberto Benavidez Dur\u00e1n, Guillermo Le\u00f3n Zamora Gonz\u00e1lez, Jos\u00e9 Ricardo\u00a0Virg\u00fcez\u00a0G\u00f3mez, Arley Mauricio Ru\u00edz Torres, and\u00a0Bahiron\u00a0Camilo Valencia Vega. Meanwhile,\u00a0a non-custodial sentence was imposed\u00a0on\u00a0William Anaya Cifuentes.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
