The man was arrested on a public street in Valledupar (Cesar) by virtue of an Interpol red notice.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Antonio M\u00e1rquez Morales, an alleged\u00a0member of \u2018Tren de Aragua\u2019 gang, was placed under the authority of the Attorney General’s Office. He is wanted by Venezuela for terrorism, homicide, and other crimes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a joint operation between the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI), the National Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service’s Fugitive Search Unit, he was arrested on a public street in Valledupar (Cesar) by virtue of an Interpol red notice.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

M\u00e1rquez Morales would be one of the leaders of \u2018Los Caracas\u2019, an armed structure of \u2018Tren de Aragua\u2019 criminal group and the main logistical and financial coordinator of this organization on the Colombian-Venezuelan border.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the arrest warrant issued by a court in Caracas, this man allegedly participated in an armed attack on a commercial establishment in the state of Zulia, in which several people were injured on February 18, 2023.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

M\u00e1rquez Morales is wanted for terrorism, criminal conspiracy, arms trafficking, and aggravated homicide.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Directorate\u00a0of International Affairs of the Attorney General’s Office will forward the respective communications so that Venezuela can formalize the extradition request.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
