In a preliminary agreement signed with the Attorney General’s Office, Leonardo Yaruro Ni\u00f1o, alias Nene, a member of the organization known as ‘La R’, accepted his responsibility for the murder of three peace signatories on September 6, 2019, in C\u00facuta (Norte de Santander).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, a\u00a0judge sentenced him to 21 years and 6 months in prison for the crimes of aggravated homicide, attempted homicide, aggravated criminal conspiracy to commit a crime, and aggravated manufacturing, trafficking, or possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The evidence obtained by a prosecutor from the Special Investigation Unit (<\/span>Unidad Especial de Investigaci\u00f3n- <\/span>UEI) indicates that alias Nene entered the place where the victims were having breakfast and shot them several times. Then, he put on a helmet, boarded a motorcycle, and fled the scene.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The peace signatories, identified as Milton Urrutia Mora, Jos\u00e9 Milton Pe\u00f1a Pineda, and Arsenio Maldonado Gamboa were fully accredited by the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leonardo Yaruro Ni\u00f1o was arrested\u00a0in Venezuela after an Interpol blue notice was issued against him. In April 2023, he was extradited to Colombia and prosecuted. He remains in custody since then.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
