At the request of a prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Bol\u00edvar, a judge ordered a prison sentence for Edgar Augusto Pelufo Aguilar, alleged leader of ‘Salsa Nueva Generaci\u00f3n’ criminal group and possibly responsible for coordinating and carrying out selective homicides in Cartagena<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Office of the Attorney General charged the defendant with conspiracy to commit a crime, homicide, attempted homicide, and manufacturing, trafficking,\u00a0or possessing firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition, all aggravated offenses.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pelufo Aguilar allegedly participated in 10 homicides committed between 2023 and 2024, using the\u00a0 \u2018hitman\u2019 method to commit murder. The facts took place during disputes\u00a0by illegal gangs seeking to have the control of drug trade in Nelson Mandela, Villa Carmen, San Pedro M\u00e1rtir, Henequen, La Gloria, Los Olivos, La Reina, Luis Carlos Gal\u00e1n, and Navas Meisser neighborhoods.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the homicides attributed to the person under investigation are: one that occurred on August 14, 2023, in Villa Carmen neighborhood, where a man was shot and killed when he was standing at his house’ front door. It is believed that he participated in the death of a citizen on January 13, 2024 in the San Pedro M\u00e1rtir neighborhood; and also in an attack against a lawyer. The latter incident occurred on January 23 of the same year, while the victim was walking through 20 de Julio neighborhood.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The alleged murderer, 38 years old, was arrested\u00a0by the National Police on June 8 in San Pedro M\u00e1rtir neighborhood of Cartagena. During the judicial proceedings, the man did not plead guilty to the charges brought against him.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
