The Attorney General’s Office presented a report on the progress made with respect to the investigation into the murder of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Attorney General’s Office, Luz Adriana Camargo Garz\u00f3n, participated in the XXXII Ordinary General Assembly of the Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutors (AIAMP), held in Madrid, Spain, where she signed judicial cooperation agreements and agreed to create International Joint Investigation Teams (<\/span>Equipos Conjuntos de Investigaci\u00f3n (ECI)<\/span><\/i>\u00a0in Spanish) with her counterparts from Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Panama.<\/span><\/p>\n

Efforts will be coordinated with these countries to tackle transnational crime, to monitor criminal financial routes, and human trafficking for sexual exploitation purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the meetings at the assembly, the Attorney General presented a report on the progress made with respect to the investigation into the murder of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci Albertini, which took place in Cartagena (Bol\u00edvar) on May 10, 2022. She stated that the investigative activities are in a new phase of identifying and prosecuting the authors of the crime, as well as affecting the finances of the criminal organization related to the fact.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Attorney General’s Office in Colombia obtained approval for the Guide on International Criminal Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of Crimes Affecting the Environment, and the <\/span>Guide on Good Practices for the Safety and Protection of Prosecutors<\/b>, public servants of the Public Prosecutors’ Offices members of the Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutors (AIAMP).<\/span><\/p>\n

The implementation of these tools aims to consolidate a common space for the exchange of experiences and the application of strategies against transnational crime. They will also serve to strengthen capacities to investigate transnational environmental crimes and coordinate complex investigations concerning organized crime, identifying the routes used for trafficking natural resources and impacting the illicit economies derived from this crime.<\/span><\/p>\n
