{"id":43952,"date":"2025-04-04T09:04:38","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T14:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=43952"},"modified":"2025-04-04T15:16:53","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T20:16:53","slug":"an-urban-ringleader-of-the-so-called-clan-del-golfo-was-sentenced-for-ordering-the-commission-of-criminal-activities-in-venadillo-tolima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2025\/04\/04\/an-urban-ringleader-of-the-so-called-clan-del-golfo-was-sentenced-for-ordering-the-commission-of-criminal-activities-in-venadillo-tolima\/","title":{"rendered":"An urban ringleader of the so-called &#8216;Clan del Golfo&#8217; was sentenced for ordering the commission of criminal activities in Venadillo (Tolima)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In light of the evidence obtained by the Attorney General&#8217;s Office, Jorge Eli\u00e9cer Carvajal Andica, alias Cera, pleaded guilty to ordering the commission of criminal activities in Venadillo (Tolima) while being the <strong>urban ringleader of Carlos Jos\u00e9 Montalvo front of the so-called &#8216;Clan del Golfo&#8217;<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A trial judge approved the plea bargain and sentenced him to 9 years and 7 months in prison for <strong>aggravated criminal conspiracy; manufacturing, trafficking, and possession of weapons, ammunition for restricted use,<\/strong> ammunition for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces, or explosives; and manufacturing, trafficking, or possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The investigation, led by a prosecutor assigned to the Directorate specialized in the fight against Criminal Organizations, <strong>showed that &#8216;Cera&#8217; was part of this illegal armed group since November 2023.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This person was responsible for ordering the commission of criminal acts in Venadillo (Tolima) and the surrounding area. <strong>Activities such as drug trafficking, extortion, and homicide were coordinated t<\/strong><\/span><strong>hrough his cell phones.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carvajal Andica was arrested on July 23, 2024, during a home search in a property of the municipality. A fragmentation grenade, <strong>a rifle magazine, and 29 cartridges were seized.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This decision became final.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The information contained in this press release corresponds to the narration of the objective news provided by the officials in charge of carrying out criminal investigations within the Office of the Attorney General.
