The evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a judge to impose a prison sentence against Sergio David Avenda\u00f1o Echeverri, alias Sopotropo, as the alleged person responsible for participating in an armed attack that took place in the west area of Medell\u00edn in which a woman died, and 5 people were injured.<\/span><\/p>\n

A prosecutor appointed to the so-called <\/span>Unidad de Vida<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 (Life Unit) of the branch office in Medell\u00edn (Seccional Medell\u00edn) charged him with homicide, attempted homicide; and manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition; all aggravated.<\/span><\/p>\n

The facts under investigation took place\u00a0<\/span>on January 1st, outside a house located at Doce de Octubre neighborhood when several men, who were riding motorcycles, allegedly shot at a group of people who were spending time there. In the violent action, a 50-year-old woman died, and a female minor and 4 adults were injured.<\/p>\n

According to the investigation, the attack would be related to disputes between illegal groups that commit crimes in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Avenda\u00f1o Echeverri was arrested in Doce de Octubre neighborhood by the Sij\u00edn of the National Police. During the preliminary hearings, he did not plead guilty to the charges brought by the Attorney General’s Office.<\/span><\/p>\n
