The investigative activities carried out by the Office of the Attorney General made it possible to determine that the man hit the victim in the head with a tile.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Based on the evidence obtained by the Attorney General’s Office, Darwin Eliezer Mel\u00e9ndez Lotero accepted through a preliminary agreement his responsibility in the murder of the animal-rights activist, Claudia Esther Ocampo Camacho, which took place on February 26, downtown Bogot\u00e1.<\/span><\/p>\n

A judge in Bogot\u00e1 approved the judicial agreement and sentenced Mel\u00e9ndez Lotero to eight years and eight months in prison for the crime of homicide.<\/span><\/p>\n

The investigation reveals that the victim and her husband were riding their bicycles around the roundabout located at the Bicentenario TransMilenio station, and suddenly became involved in an argument with a group of people who were at the place.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the midst of the situation, Mel\u00e9ndez Lotero, a citizen from Venezuelan, threw a tile at the woman, leaving her unconscious and seriously injured. The victim was taken to Santa Clara Hospital, but died the next day due to a cranioencephalic trauma.<\/span><\/p>\n

The investigative activities carried out by the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) and the National Police, such as obtaining videos of the scene, witness statements and\u00a0 identification of photographs, showed that Mel\u00e9ndez Lotero was the person who committed the murder.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the sentence, the judge determined that, after serving his sentence, the defendant must be expelled from the country.<\/span><\/p>\n
