Alias \u200b\u200bCaviche is accused of monitoring the victim and taking a photograph of his location to guide the men who shot him.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the request of a prosecutor of the so-called <\/span>Unidad Especial de Investigaci\u00f3n<\/span><\/i> -UEI (Special Investigation Unit), a judge imposed a prison sentence on Eduardo Andr\u00e9s Melo Bravo, alias Caviche, an alleged member of the self identified ‘Comandos Bolivarianos de Frontera\u201d of Farc dissidents, who would be involved in the murder of the indigenous leader and governor of Nasa, Phanor Guazaquillo Pe\u00f1a, which took place on December 3, 2023, in Puerto As\u00eds (Putumayo).<\/span><\/p>\n

During the investigation, it was established that two armed men arrived at the municipal cemetery located in La Danta area, on a motorcycle, and shot the victim 10 times, who was walking with his wife.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alias \u200b\u200bCaviche allegedly monitored the indigenous governor and took a photograph, which he later sent to the hitmen to alert them about the place where he was and the clothes he was wearing, so that they could identify the victim.<\/span><\/p>\n

For these facts, CTI investigators, with the support of Gaula-Army, arrested Eduardo Andr\u00e9s Melo Bravo in Modelo neighborhood, Puerto As\u00eds. The Office of the Attorney General charged him with aggravated homicide, aggravated conspiracy to commit crimes; and manufacture, trafficking and possession of firearms. He did not plead guilty to the charges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Phanor Guazaquillo Pe\u00f1a was governor of the Kwe’sx Kiwe ancestral territory and councilor of Puerto As\u00eds, and was also recognized in the border area with Ecuador for his determined defense of the rights of his community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.<\/span><\/p>\n
