{"id":42603,"date":"2024-08-05T09:55:52","date_gmt":"2024-08-05T14:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=42603"},"modified":"2024-08-05T16:52:48","modified_gmt":"2024-08-05T21:52:48","slug":"the-criminal-organization-los-timadores-was-dismantled-for-alleged-theft-under-false-sale-of-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2024\/08\/05\/the-criminal-organization-los-timadores-was-dismantled-for-alleged-theft-under-false-sale-of-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"The criminal organization Los Timadores was dismantled for alleged theft under false sale of vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They contacted their victims in Tolima and Cundinamarca, through commercial platforms and social networks using the fake sale of cars, and once they made an appointment, their victims&#8217; belongings were stolen.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Attorney General&#8217;s Office prosecuted two men accused of belonging to a criminal group known as Los Timadores, involved in thefts, under the modality of deception.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The investigation showed that the modus operandi of &#8216;Los Timadores&#8217; was to use fake publications of vehicle sales on social networks and commercial platforms on Internet to attract their victims and make appointments to conduct the alleged sale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the victim arrived at the scene, they would tie the victim up and threaten with death using firearms and sharp objects to subdue and intimidate the victim, robbing the money for the purchase of the vehicle and other belongings. The thefts amount to approximately 90 million COP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The people involved are Juan Sebasti\u00e1n Cabra Figueroa and Miyer Duvan Vel\u00e1squez M\u00e9ndez, who are deprived of their liberty for another process. A prosecutor belonging to the Support Group (Estructura de Apoyo) in Tolima charged them with conspiracy to commit a crime, torture, simple kidnapping, possession of firearms and qualified and aggravated theft, that took place in Melgar and Bogot\u00e1 in 2021. They did not plead guilty to the charges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These men would be linked to four criminal acts. The dismantling of this criminal organization was achieved with these accusations. Another four alleged members are in the trial stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The information contained in this press release corresponds to the narration of the objective news provided by the officials in charge of carrying out criminal investigations within the Office of the Attorney General.
