The defendants allegedly deceived the victim with the excuse of taking him to a meeting, and later shot him to death.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The Attorney General’s Office brought four alleged members of the Carlos V\u00e1squez substructure of Clan del Golfo before a judge since they would be involved in the murder of the social leader Jos\u00e9 Isidro Cuesta Rivas on March 29, 2020 in Carmen del Dari\u00e9n (Choc\u00f3).<\/span><\/p>\n

The people involved are: Yorles Javier Correa Arteaga, alias Mono Cuco; Onael Enrique Ramos Anaya, alias Chacal; Jos\u00e9 El\u00edas Cortes Vel\u00e1squez, alias Chalia; and Kevin Esteban Chaverra Guti\u00e9rrez, alias Risitas.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the investigation, \u2018Chalia\u2019 in the company of another person arrived at the Jiguamiand\u00f3 sector where, through deception, they took the victim to the bifurcation in the rural area of Urada Baja of the same municipality. At this point \u2018Risitas\u2019 along with other members of the illegal armed group took the victim to another place where they allegedly\u00a0 shot him repeatedly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Information in the possession of the Attorney General Office\u2019 hands revealed that \u2018Mono Cuco\u2019 and \u2018Chacal\u2019, commanders of the criminal substructure, were the ones who ordered the murder.<\/span><\/p>\n

A prosecutor belonging to the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigaci\u00f3n – UEI) charged the defendants, in absentia, with aggravated homicide; aggravated manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition; and conspiracy to commit a crime.<\/span><\/p>\n

The judge imposed a prison sentence and issued the respective arrest warrants.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.<\/span><\/p>\n
