The first, transported foreigners in tourist and interdepartmental service buses from Ipiales (Nari\u00f1o) to Necocl\u00ed (Antioquia) to take them through the so-called &#8216;Tap\u00f3n del Dari\u00e9n&#8217; to Panama.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other route, called VIP, was offered exclusively to citizens of China, who were picked up in Tulc\u00e1n (Ecuador) and taken to Medell\u00edn (Antioquia) by land. There, they received air tickets to San Andr\u00e9s. Then, they would be sent to Central American countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In procedures carried out simultaneously in Bello, Sabaneta and Envigado (Antioquia), eight of the alleged members of &#8216;Los Andariegos&#8217; were arrested, among them, the alleged ringleader, identified as Cristian Camilo Rivera P\u00e9rez. This man would be in charge of coordinating accommodation and transportation of foreigners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the arrested people are: Jes\u00fas Nolberto Gonz\u00e1lez Bedoya, Reina Marisol Quiceno Aguirre, Nelson Fl\u00f3rez and Francia Elena Ortiz Gaviria, who were in charge of coordinating accommodation in Cartago (Valle del Cauca) and Medell\u00edn (Antioquia); Paula Andrea Serna P\u00e9rez and Jorge Alexander Ca\u00f1arte Arcila, employees of an intermunicipal transportation company; and David Jes\u00e9 Rodr\u00edguez Suesc\u00fan, a taxi driver who transported migrants in Medell\u00edn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A prosecutor from the Special Directorate against Human Rights Violations charged these eight people with aggravated conspiracy to commit crimes and migrant trafficking. Moreover, the ringleader was charged with manufacture, trafficking and possession of firearms or ammunition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges. Six of them must serve a prison sentence; while Ca\u00f1arte Arcila and Rodr\u00edguez Suesc\u00fan will continue to be linked to the investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The information contained in this press release corresponds to the narration of the objective news provided by the officials in charge of carrying out criminal investigations within the Office of the Attorney General.
