The victims allegedly arrived in the area of \u200b\u200binfluence of the armed group in search of an alleged cache<\/em><\/p>\n

The Attorney General’s Office brought Stiven Andr\u00e9s Jaramillo Guazaquillo, alias Chavo or Bairon Garc\u00eda, and Jair Valencia Sol\u00eds, alias V\u00edctor, before a judge. They are alleged members of Jaime Mart\u00ednez column of FARC dissidents who would be involved in an armed attack that caused five deaths and injured two others in the rural area La Meseta, \u200b\u200bJamund\u00ed (Valle of Cauca), on January 16, 2020.<\/p>\n

Alias \u200b\u200bChavo allegedly met with other men in a building and coordinated the execution of the crime. Subsequently, he allegedly monitored and identified the movements of the victims and remained at the scene to prevent them from escaping. For his part, alias V\u00edctor, was apparently part of the armed group that shot them indiscriminately.<\/p>\n

The evidence indicates that the motive for the crime would be related to information that FARC dissidents received indicating that the victims were visiting the area in search of an alleged cache with money.<\/p>\n

A prosecutor from the so-called Grupo de Homicidios Colectivos de la Direcci\u00f3n de Apoyo Territorial\u00a0(Homicide Group of the Territorial Support Directorate) charged the people investigated with aggravated homicide, attempted aggravated homicide, and aggravated manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces. They did not plead guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n

The defendants currently remain deprived of their liberty in prison for other criminal acts.<\/p>\n

The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.<\/em><\/p>\n
