The Office of the Attorney General, in conjunction with DIJIN National Police, seized 39 assets for the purpose of\u00a0 ‘extinction de dominio\u2019* that would belong to a structure involved in the \u00a0smuggling of merchandise on a large scale.<\/p>\n
The properties are are 19 urban and 7 rural properties, 4 vehicles, 6 companies and 3 commercial establishments, which are located in Medell\u00edn, Rionegro, Envigado, Guarne, Caldas and La Ceja (Antioquia); Cali (Valle del Cauca), Santa Marta (Magdalena), Cartagena (Bol\u00edvar) and Barranquilla (Atl\u00e1ntico).<\/p>\n
Preliminary figures indicate that the assets exceed 231,000 million pesos. Apparently, they were acquired with illicit resources\u00a0 entering the country, through fictitious importers and front companies, and textiles from China, Indonesia, India, Singapore, Vietnam, the United States, Panama and Peru.<\/p>\n
According to the investigation, the smuggled products were collected at different points in Antioquia and Valle del Cauca, and from these places were distributed to other cities in the country to make clothing that was sold at national and international level.<\/p>\n
A prosecutor from the Special Directorate for Assets Seizure imposed precautionary measures. All the assets were placed under Sociedad de Activos Especiales (SAE) \u00a0administration.<\/p>\n
