{"id":40280,"date":"2021-11-03T17:20:09","date_gmt":"2021-11-03T22:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/?p=40280"},"modified":"2021-11-05T02:04:52","modified_gmt":"2021-11-05T07:04:52","slug":"another-hard-blow-dealt-to-the-clan-del-golfo-ended-with-the-arrest-and-prosecution-of-27-alleged-members-of-their-criminal-networks-and-a-multimillionaire-impact-on-their-illicit-f","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiscalia.gov.co\/colombia\/en\/2021\/11\/03\/another-hard-blow-dealt-to-the-clan-del-golfo-ended-with-the-arrest-and-prosecution-of-27-alleged-members-of-their-criminal-networks-and-a-multimillionaire-impact-on-their-illicit-f\/","title":{"rendered":"Another hard blow dealt to the \u2018Clan del Golfo\u2019 ended with the arrest and prosecution of 27 alleged members of their criminal networks, and a multimillionaire impact on their illicit finances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Assets for about $87 billion belonging to Jorge Eli\u00e9cer Casta\u00f1o Toro, Nelson Dario Hurtado Simanca and Jafet Berrio Rivas were seized.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado announced in Leticia, Amazonas, a new and conclusive hard blow dealt to the Clan del Golfo, another result that can be added to the recent arrest of the top leader of that criminal organization, Dairo Antonio \u00dasuga, alias Otoniel.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion and in development of the \u2018Argenta\u2019 strategy aimed at impacting the illicit assets of organized crime organizations, the specialized directorates against Money Laundering and Assets Forfeiture of the Attorney General&#8217;s Office, supported by the National Police and the Seventeenth Brigade of the Seventh Division of the National Army dealt a blow to the &#8216;Clan del Golfo&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The actions that were conducted in different departments allowed the arrest and prosecution of 27 alleged members of criminal networks at the service of this criminal group who used different ways to launder millionaire amounts of money. The money would allegedly belonged to Luis Orlando Padierna Pe\u00f1a, alias Inglaterra; Jorge Eli\u00e9cer Casta\u00f1o Toro, alias Pl\u00e1stico; Nelson Dar\u00edo Hurtado Simanca, alias Marihuano; and Jafet Berrio Rivas, alias El Iguano.<\/p>\n<p>Sixteen 16 alleged collaborators of Jorge Eli\u00e9cer Casta\u00f1o Toro, alias Pl\u00e1stico, were arrested in August 2020 for extradition purposes. \u2018Pl\u00e1stico\u2019 allegedly had a family clan that helped him with the sale of assets, front company, front men, bank transactions and small cash transfers to give the appearance of legality.<\/p>\n<p>They were \u00d3scar Miguel Rodr\u00edguez L\u00f3pez, Zuleima Jhoana Vel\u00e1squez Pareja, M\u00f3nica Soto Mar\u00edn, Luisa Fernanda Mu\u00f1oz Moreno, Estid Osti Casta\u00f1o Toro, \u00d3scar Octavio Casta\u00f1o Toro, Hern\u00e1n Dar\u00edo Herrera Jaramillo, Carlos Alberto Herrera Jaramillo, Claudia Cristina Tabares Giraldo, Dora Isabel Jaramillo Arboleda, Hern\u00e1n de Jes\u00fas Vel\u00e1squez, Jhaider Lastra Rodr\u00edguez, Carlos Andr\u00e9s Molina Ram\u00edrez, Huber Andr\u00e9s Herrera Jaramillo, Francisco Javier Ahumada Maury, retired colonel of the National Police who was arrested in Barranquilla; and Vladimir Eduardo Santamar\u00eda Ram\u00edrez of the Metropolitan Police in C\u00facuta.<\/p>\n<p>The Attorney General\u00b4s Office charged them with money laundering, illicit enrichment of private individuals, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Two of the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges; the remaining 14 did not plead guilty and were sent to prison.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, interceptions, interviews, economic and financial analyzes showed that between 2015 and 2018 four family members of Nelson Dar\u00edo Hurtado Simanca, alias Marihuano, who was killed on February 7 in Riosucio (Choc\u00f3), allegedly laundered more than $ 1,7 billion through the sale of real estate, vehicles, livestock and the commercial establishments and companies.<\/p>\n<p>They are Libia Duarte Amado and Paola Andrea Ruiz Chavarr\u00eda, former wives of \u2018Marihuano\u2019; his daughter, Luisa Fernanda Hurtado Duarte; and Norberto Antonio Ram\u00edrez Colorado, alias Pirri, Central structure of the \u2018Clan del Golfo\u2019\u00b4s trusted man. They were charged with money laundering and illicit enrichment of private individuals. The defendants were sent to a prison.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, the evidence collected allowed us to establish that between 2010 and 2020 several people, apparently, in the service of Luis Orlando Padierna Pe\u00f1a, alias England, who was killed on November 23, 2017, in Chin\u00e1cota (Norte de Santander), were front men to give the appearance of legality to more than $ 4.9 billion.<\/p>\n<p>An analysis about the assets revealed how, through the sale of movable and immovable property, and commercial establishments; the people arrested allegedly laundered millionaire sums of money of illicit origin.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants were H\u00e9ctor Fabio Murillo Rojas, Diana T\u00e9llez Rodr\u00edguez, Leison Andr\u00e9s Rojas Murillo, Sandra Patricia Uribe Rueda, Mar\u00eda Besey Duarte Arango, Luz Dary Padierna Pe\u00f1a and Cley Cerpa Ospina, who were arrested in Carepa and Medell\u00edn (Antioquia) as well as Ibague, Tolima). They were charged with money laundering and illicit enrichment. Two of the people involved received restrictive measures and the rest are still linked to the process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Assets Forfeiture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within the framework of this operation, the Specialized Directorate on Assets Forfeiture imposed precautionary measures such as suspension of power to alienate property and a seizure process on properties, apparently, acquired with illegal resources by &#8216;Marihuano&#8217;, &#8216;El Iguano&#8217; and &#8216;Pl\u00e1stico&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>These are real estate, vehicles, companies, commercial establishments, savings account balances and livestock located in Medell\u00edn, Turbo, Sabaneta, Envigado, Itag\u00fc\u00ed, El Retiro, Andes, Maceo, Puerto Nare, Carepa, Chigorod\u00f3, Necocli (Antioquia) and Choc\u00f3. The total value of the properties of the three alleged leaders of the Clan del Golfo is about $ 87 billion.
