In Cali (Valle del Cauca), the Attorney General Francisco Barbosa Delgado announced new results of the actions taken to clarify criminal acts and prosecute those responsible for acts of vandalism that affect public safety and undermine social protest.<\/p>\n

In that sense, he referred to the detention measures in juvenile centers imposed against three minors by the Fifth Criminal Court on Adolescents for their alleged participation in the crimes of aggravated terrorism with multiple concurrent crimes, aggravated attempted murder and aggravated manufacturing, trafficking, and possession of firearms, accessories, parts, and ammunition.<\/p>\n

The 15, 16, and 17-year-old adolescents were detained in flagrante delicto by police officers in Cali this May 28, at El Lido neighborhood, southwest part of the city.<\/p>\n

The alleged offenders were part of a group of approximately 30 people who tried to take possession of facilities such as the Police Station and the Judicial Center in Lido by throwing homemade explosives and using firearms.<\/p>\n

According to the evidence and testimonies, the minors allegedly threw homemade explosives \u2018Molotov\u2019 to the Station to start a fire.<\/p>\n

According to the judge \u201cthe crime of aggravated terrorism was carried out due to the anxiety, restlessness, uneasiness that people have been experiencing in recent days and, particularly, on the day of the facts, in which they endanger the physical integrity, people\u00b4s freedom, and the integrity of facilities where the security forces operate by using means capable of wreaking havoc, such as incendiary bombs and homemade explosives \u2018Molotov\u2019, \u00a0taking into account that there were located the so-called Centro de Atenci\u00f3n Local, Casa de Justicia de Silo\u00e9, Medicina Legal, Comisar\u00eda de Familia, Polic\u00eda Nacional de Auxiliares Bachilleres, \u00a0Juzgado Primero y Tercero de Peque\u00f1as Causas y Competencias M\u00faltiples de Silo\u00e9 y \u00a0Inspecci\u00f3n Permanente de Polic\u00eda\u201d.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The minors did not plead guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n

The Attorney General emphasized that \u201cAll the behaviors that generate anxiety and fear to the population and that involve acts of violence, such as those that are taking place in some places in the city of Cali, will be investigated and clarified by the Attorney General’s Office”.<\/p>\n
