Within the framework of the investigation and prosecution strategies for serious damages against the population in the process of reincorporation, human rights defenders and the contribution to the dismantling of criminal organizations: Algeciras project, the Office of the Attorney General obtained a sentence of 17 years and 6 months in prison against Duverney Barrera Bustos, a member of the dissidents of the Farc column Te\u00f3filo Forero.<\/p>\n
According to the decision made by the 3rd Criminal Court in Neiva (Huila) hearing the case, which also contemplates a fine of 406.66 legal minimum wages, Barrera Bustos will continue deprived of his liberty to serve a sentence for the crimes of aggravated murder, forced displacement, threats and manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms.<\/p>\n
The investigations carried out revealed that the defendant participated in the murder of Ricardo Lee Pati\u00f1o (a person in process of reincorporation) and Yan Carlos Monta\u00f1o Ovalle (son of a person in process of reincorporation); as well as threats and the displacement of the former combatants Miguel Alfonso Su\u00e1rez Oviedo and Jorge Mauricio Lozano Urrea.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that, given the conclusive evidence collected by the Office of the Attorney General about facts that took place between January and May 2020 in Algeciras (Huila), Barrera Bustos pleaded guilty to the charges by virtue of a preliminary agreement.<\/p>\n
Due to these serious acts committed against the population of special protection, Jhon Gilvert Barrera Bustos, brother of the person who was sentenced, is in prison for the same crimes. Both were already serving a sentence in prison for another process of conspiracy to commit a crime.<\/p>\n
Decisions were pronounced on the first instance and they may be challenged by legal remedies.<\/p>\n
